Xps M1330 Touchpad Driver Windows 7

Posted in HomeBy adminOn 08/01/18

From experience, I've found that: “Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder”!! The drivers for Vista are suppose to be compatible and working for Windows 7. The only thing to watch out for is to make sure that the Windows 7 you've installed matches (a) the type of machine you have (ie: 32-bit >32-bit Win 7/ 64-bit >64-bit Win 7) and (b) try to avoid the custom installation option. There's a compatibility chart and if anyone has the chance to upgrade, do that.

I tried to go from Windows Vista Home Premium on my XPS M1330 to Windows 7 Professional N but got a handful of driver errors compatibility issues. With that, and because there are no designated drivers for the XPS series (yet?), upgrading might be the better road. Quick note on compatibility: For those with XPS M1330 Vista Home Premium, upgrade option is available to go to Windows 7 Home Premium, Beta Version, and Ultimate but not Professional. Windows 7 even messed up my drivers for my CD/DVD-RW so having.iso files, a flash drive with current drivers, and a hard drive are good to have should anything go south.

I'm sharing this because this has happened to me. As for Dell, they probably will release Windows 7 drivers since that's now the default OS for their new laptops.

I can bet they will throw XPS into the list, one driver can be compatible over many models. Drivers that may be affected in the Windows 7 transfer could be: fingerprint scanner, touchpad, wireless, CD/DVD-RW, and maybe the nVidia driver. This is off the top of my head the problems I had when I went to 7 Professional N then back to Vista. The current Vista drivers are good enough to get you through the interim period before the new Windows 7 come. There are any number of FREE 'SysInfo' programs available which can tell you everything about your system. Just Google something like 'System Info Program?' , and you'll find 'em all, but here are a few to be getting on with: is a good one to start with, because you don't need to install it!

Simply download it, then run it is a particularly good one, which has been going for years. Likewise - has been around a while. Unlike most others though, it displays the scan results on a webpage, so you obviously need to be connected to the internet when you run it. From experience, I've found that: “Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder”!!

I installed Win 7 on the m1330 notebook and had some problems with the BT Travel Mouse disappearing. Seems like you don't want to use the original dell driver cd except for the sigmatel sound driver but avoid the Widcommm and Broadcomm.

Win 7 installs what you need. You may need the ethernet however. But I reinstalled Win 7 after the mouse disappeared. Went right to the bluetooth devices - right click on the icon in the system tray - and win 7 found the BT mouse - don't forget to push the button on the bottom of the mouse for discoverability after asking the system to search for it.

The mouse shows up as one of three in device driver, and doesn't show up at all in the bluetooth area of win, but it works just fine. But I ignored the Widcomm and Broadcom drivers on the Dell CD.

I think I read where the XP driver may work better for the mouse but I don't care at this point. Vista drivers certainly appear to be problematic. Back in Nov 09 people were waiting for Dell to provide Win 7 drivers for the xps m1330.

It is now 2011 and I still see nothing. Service tag entry brings up same old same old. Let me know if this is changed - anyone out there!! Hope this helps someone.

Uggg.I tried upgrading a M1330 to Win7 Home Premium x64. There are no drivers for the touch pad (which is overly sensitive now), and I lost the Intel Pro/Set wireless, which simply won't run in x64. The regular MS wireless is garbage and doesn't really work with the 1330's adapter. Unless I can fix these problems - and as usual, Dell is of no help - I'll have to reinstall either Vista or I might try Win7 32-bit, but if I have to do it, I don't want to do the install and have it not work again. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and it's definitely better than Vista. The problem is driver compatibility sucks so you do have to do some searching around.

For the Touchpad, it's Synaptics ver. 10.1.2.0 date: and for the Wireless try Broadcom v. 5.30.21.0 date: 10/1/2008. I bought my M1330 with Vista x64 and upgraded to 7 Ultimate x64 about a year ago and yes there are driver compatibility issues but it's worse if you switch to x32 or trying Home or Premium editions, even for the x64-bit. In my opinion, 7 Ultimate x64 is the best of the upgrade for the M1330. Once you fix the drivers, you don't have to worry about a lot of core technical problems, especially BSODs, which has been replaced by a 30-second countdown and auto-reboot. You also may have to flash the BIOS but otherwise Windows 7 works great.

Hope this helps. Hey guys i currently own a Xps m1330 as well and so recently reloaded my OS from Win Vista Ultimate to W7 Prof. It was getting overly buggy on my system and i knew W7 was a more stable OS than Vista Ultimate, however I'm unable to get some of my drivers. Has anyone been able to source proper drivers for the graphics card the Nvidia. Also after installing it I realized that i can't get the Windows aero features again and well neither my Sleep Mode to work. If anyone can direct me it would be great to get this resolved! Thanks again for all those who posted.
