I believe Unique SID comes under pervue only when SAP support is required. In my recent project for an insurance company we had s sandbox erected with a certain LID SID, after successful configurations the same system formed the foundation for installation of the rea development system.

Both the SIDs are present over market place, but now only one is functional. Also when had to raise a Go-Live message to SAP for our production at a time when even the quality was even not erected, hence had to do with the sandbox system only.

So it depends, its just that the main landscape must not have non-unique SID; please correct me friends.
