But in the Knockout Rounds, Chloe faced off against Ashland Craft, and Miley, who wanted a country singer on her team, chose to keep Ashland. That gave Blake the opportunity to steal Chloe, which he did. It turned out to be a smart decision because Chloe’s version of Stevie Nick‘s “Landslide” turned out to be the highest-ranked song on iTunes among The Voice artists during the Knockout Rounds, reaching No. It branded Chloe as one of the more popular artists for Season 13.

Last week when the Top 12 performed live for the first time, Chloe also did well. Her version of Dido‘s “Thank You” landed at No. 17 on iTunes, placing her second behind Team Adam Levine‘s Addison Agen, who broke the Top Ten, landing at No. 9 with “She Used To Be Mine.” Parade.com had the opportunity to speak with Chloe following the live performances and talk about what it was like to sing live for the first time, when she first knew she could sing, the fact that she didn’t actually audition, and more. What was the most unexpected thing about tonight?

I think the biggest surprise was the actual energy in the room. It was insane! I felt the weight, it wasn’t just this room, it was America.

I was singing to America — so that was pretty big. And then the adrenaline kicked in, it was kind of surprising. You had the highest ranking on iTunes for Stevie Nicks’ “Landslide” from the Knockout Rounds. What is that like?

For me personally, if I am being honest, I wasn’t prepared for that song to do as well as it did. Then I was worried because I made it to No. 12 on the overall charts, but it is so early on that I wondered if that was peaking too early: Am I going to compare everything else to that?

What’s going to happen? Then my dad told me, “You can’t compare, because what you did with that song and what each of us do with certain songs, it is just that. It’s just a moment with that song.

It’s not going to have the same effect every time. It’s just like the great songs you listen to. There’s a lot of ways to vote.

You can do it online and on the app, not just through iTunes, so charting doesn’t really have anything to do with the nerves for the results show. It is going to be a mystery to us who goes and who stays. What does America still need to see from you? For me, I think there’s a lot of hype around the clothes and everything. Just like anyone in the business, I want people to know that I am normal and I’m kind of weird and I like to laugh with my friends.

What was the process you went through when you made the decision to audition for The Voice? This is going to sound crazy, but I didn’t audition for the show. There are so many ways to get involved with The Voice.

There is the open call, which tons of people are from. Of the people that you saw that made it past the Blinds, the majority are from open call auditions. They went through every round before you see the Blinds. But weirdly enough, I received a phone call. I have been playing in Nashville for, like, four years and someone saw me at a show and they got my contact info and called and they were like, “Do you want to audition for The Voice? We will fly you out,” so that is what I did.

It was like one those kids songs I was singing to myself, like “The Itsy Bitsy Spider,” like super soulful, and she comes back in and was, “What was that?” She called my dad and was like, “Our daughter can sing!” No one in my family is musical, including extended family. I am like the black sheep.
