How To Install Disc Brake Anti Rattle Clips On Brake

1999 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles I just changed the front pads, used Wagner Thermo Quiet pads. Of course no instructions or pictures in the Wagner Thermoquiet box on how to install the clips. Two different sized clips came in the box. Britannia Cooker Hood Manual. The existing install had the shorter clips installed on the piston side with the tabs facing inward towards the car. The outer pads had the longer sized clips with the tabs facing outward. I took a picture of the outer pad, does it look right?

I fooled around installing the short ones here also and quite honestly, it too, looks 'right', so please answer only if you are sure that what is shown is the correct install. I installed them like the existing, but the wife complained about a great deal of brake noise before I changed them, so I'm not sure they were installed correctly previously.

Second question, are all four pads identical? Seems like you'd want to have a different ridge type on the outer pads to mate with the caliper body than on the inside that mates with the piston.

They were identical in the pad I removed, but forgot to check on the installed ones. Image: Also, you can see that I slightly bent the ears on the anti-rattle clip, was this proper?

I can undo it if necessary, still haven't done it to the other side.

• Removethe Caliper guide bolts (caps too) • Removethe Caliper (if the caliper does not slide right now, which is usuallythe case, use the C-clamp to clamp the solid part of the caliper tothe face of the rotor, the caliper will be easily removed) • Providesupport to the caliper so that it does not hang on its own and thusdestroying the brake hose. (try to use something better than what ispicture to hold the caliper!) • Removethe brake pads from the caliper • Removethe set screw and remove the brake rotor carefully (its heavy!). Neyrinck Soundcode For Dolby Digital Crack Gauge. Arubber hammer maybe needed as the rotor maybe seized to the hub, • Cleanup the area around the wheel hub flange with the air compressor orjust a simple brush. • Positionthe new rotor onto the wheel hub and install a new set screw to holdthe rotor in place. • Cleanup the rotor with a clean cloth or brake cleaners • Installthe mounting bracket for the caliper.

• Pushthe caliper piston using a C-clamp into the caliper and make sure itsin place. • Installthe brake pads into the Caliper, installed the inner pad then installthe outer brake pad. • Oncethis is done, remember to install the new brake pad sensor and connectit to the brake pad. • Positionthe caliper over the brake disc, install the guide bolts and the antirattle clip.

• Atthe mounting location, apply some anti seize compound, do make surethat it does not get onto the rotor surface (where the brake padgrips) • Makesure everything is in its proper location and secured. • Reinstallthe wheel and lower your BMW back down.

Work on the other wheelsand follow the same guidelines. • Oncedone.TAKE SOME NICE PICTURES:) and you just saved yourself a fewhundred $$$.
